What we do.
Because “all things hold together in Christ,” the Colossian Forum reaches out to reconcile the unreconciled, particularly those struggling with issues of Christian faith, science and culture.
We do this in ways both practical and deeply theological.
We’re best known for our retreats—where believers unite in a new kind of conversation.
We spend the day in study, drawing on the vast wealth of our Christian intellectual tradition—and its continual, centuries-long engagement with questions of science, faith and culture. We also bring our modern questions and concerns into rigorous discussion—with dissent where required. We learn together.
But deeper still, we worship together. Praying the Psalms throughout the day, we see again our unity in Christ. And from our shared identity, we can speak—and hear—the truth in love.
Because our goal is to build up the body of Christ, we develop each of our events in partnership with a local school or church. We’ll work with you to design an event that fits your group’s unique character and concerns.
The work behind the work.
In all we do, we work to help believers discover this: that common worship and prayer are the living roots of virtues that grow into habits of life—habits that mold not merely the right kind of ideas but the right kind of people. When we are one in Christ, in whom all things hold together, we can confidently pursue Truth together.
But we proclaim this message through more than forums and retreats.
We invest heavily in scholarly research—not for its own sake, but to discover and explore the rich historical and theological resources created by two millennia of believers, grappling together and discerning the Spirit’s wisdom together, as they delved deep into the very issues we still face today.
That’s also why we express it in ways everyone can hear. For learning that’s as interesting as it is enlightening, keep following our website, join us on Facebook and Twitter and watch for forthcoming study materials and curricula (details at www.colossianforum.org).
And for like-minded partners, we can support your projects through consulting, speaking, targeted research and other services.
In short, we help Christians begin the formation that grows into transformation.
